Christmas time!

Upscale Megan! Shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Our little Christmas tree. It's like the little engine the could. Go buddy, you can do it!
Oh, wow a box! I wanted one of these things.
Megan and the spoils of war.
Our family Christmas pajama picture (a Kuhlenhoelter tradition).
Busted! She was digging through our office supplies. For some reason she loves pens. Go figure.

Megan met Santa for the first time. It was the law school dean, so it was actually Santa Harabogee (Grandpa Santa, He's Korean). She looked a little concerned
So, we celebrated Christmas a little early this year. That's 'cause we wanted to have our own little family Christmas and we're going to be with grandparents during the holidays. Megan got a ton of loot, but mostly clothes. We got some killer deals at a second hand store. Plus, Grandma Farr and aunt Lisa contributed significantly. We were so excited for it; she enjoyed eating the wrapping paper.
We also went down to New York and spent the day with aunt Lisa. We got to see Saks, the tree at Rockefeller Square, and a strange Christmas parade in little Italy. The parade had a bunch of Chinese dragons in it. I don't get it. At Saks we looked around at all the clothes. Most cost more than I made this year. Megan was pawing at a $1,300 pair of shoes. Sorry Megan, maybe next year.
Also, you've got to check out the link below. Christmas fun!

Catching up with the Farrs

We had our first snow fall on Friday. Megan wasn't particularly thrilled that we made her go out there. She is showing off her pointing skill here.
Our first Christmas tree. No it is not a trick, it is as small as you think.
Helping mom with the laundry.
Playing with the printer.
I am not at all eager for this child to become a toddler. I can't keep her away from the printer, unless I want a picture, and you would think that I was sending her into Dante's 9th circle. As soon as I put the camera away, she goes right to it and throws a fit when I pull her out. When I do, she proceeds to where dad is working on his laptop, and presses the delete button. Being chased away from there, she knocks over a glass filled with water. She then makes her way back to the printer, where she takes the cover off, and drops the camera on the ground. She then tries to "help" with the laundry. She is having a blast, of course. This took place over a period of about 5 minutes. Oi.

Happy Hunting

Megan's favorite food, as you can see, is raspberries. She goes for them with a gusto. She likes them so much that she saves some for later. She even throws a fit when I try to clean her up.

Happy Thanksgiving.

For Thanksgiving, we went to the ward house and had dinner. Megan was all over the place. It was so hard to keep her out of traffic. She stole this phone from a 18 month old. He took it back, and she then crawled over and took it from him again. He was so confused. If you look carefully, her hair has a single ponytail with a green barrette.
Megan is trying so hard to stand and walk. When we lie on the floor, she comes crawling up and wants to climb on you. She can cruise along this way and can balance with one hand. This girl never stops.
Yesterday we had a good time. We went to a state park. We saw a covered bridge next to a waterfall. We went walking along the stream for a ways. Megan loved the running water. There was a nice pond with several geese. It was foggy and pretty. We love Connecticut. We are looking forward to going to the submarine museum nearby.

Fun at Yale

This basket is her favorite toy ever. I can't keep her away from it. She brakes pieces off and tries to eat them. Kisses. Kisses
Go Yale. We went to the Yale-Harvard game. It was so cold. And Yale lost badly.

Tagged by Marcy!

Since I was tagged by Marcy, I thought that I would sit down and do it while I can think of things. For those of y0u that don't know, once you are tagged, you have to list 6 habits/traits and then tag 6 more people.
1. I have a rotation schedule for everything! My sheets, my dishcloths, everything I can. If one of them gets out of order, it feels a little funny. I don't even have the pregnancy excuse. I hope I don't sound tooooo crazy.
2. I also love to check everyone's blog. I try to keep myself to two or three times a day. I fuss to Russ when someone hasn't updated theirs for awhile, like a week. Come on people! The really funny thing is Russ will suggest that I update our blog with something, and I usually don't. My goal is to get everyone I know to start a blog.
3. I love to read cookbooks. I usually never use them to cook. I keep telling Russ that I will when I have more time. He asks me when I think that I will have enough time when are family is bigger. It is starting to kind of get out of hand.
4. We have a mouse in our kitchen. I absolutely hate to go in there. I make Russ check our stove before I cook, and I turn on the light and bang on the refrigerator and make as much noise as possible as I am walking in there. We set up a mouse trap and when I woke up at 5:00 am it took me forever to get back to sleep because I thought I could hear the mouse rustling around in there.
5. I have rigid food rules. It drives Russ crazy.
6. I love Maury Povitch's Paternity Revealed Shows. They are on at 9 and 10 in the morning. There is something about them that is just so compelling. "The Drama, The Excitement, Come to the Maury Show" It is taped in New York and Russ has offered to go down there for a show one time while we are here.

Ok, let's see I tag: Rebecca, Alysha, Casey, Laura, Melissa, and Emily.

Fun at the Peabody Museum

A Woolly Mammoth
Russ's caveman brow fits in so nicely with the Neanderthal Man's. Megan joins the herd.
"The dingo ate my baby."
This turtle is huge!!!!
We also saw some other dinosaurs, including the only "real brontosaurus" skeleton in the world, a T-Rex head, and others. It was very cool. They also had a fly-fishing exhibit, so you know we spent time there!

6 months old!!

Megan finally had her six month appointment today. She missed her fourth, so it was very good to get back on schedule. She is at the 50th% for both her weight and height. She had to get shots today, and the man who did them took forever. I wanted to kick him out of the way so I could do it myself. But we made it through and she is now playing happily by my feet. She was been helping me baby proof the apartment today. It consists of her crawling around, me noticing what she had her eye on, and putting it out of reach. It was a good system. I also removed the last 0-3 months clothes that were still in her dresser (even though she could still fit in them (sigh)) and put in the next batch of clothes. So, we are basically doing great!

MEGAN'S CRAWLING!!

Yes that's right, Megan has finally started crawling. She hit her 6 month mark on Sunday, and on Wednesday she was crawling. Our days of leaving her alone for just a few seconds are over. She has also turned into a real Mama girl, especially when she is tired. We will have to start childproofing the house when we get back. (Sorry for the bad quality, we will make a better one once we get back).

This is baby Megan in her high chair. We got it for free from some people in the complex that were moving. It came right in time. She likes to sit in the chair and play with her spoon. She loves to watch mama work in the kitchen.

We all had a great time yesterday. We went to visit my professor's farm in Woodbridge. It was great! though not really a farm per se. The only thing he grows is grass, but he has chickens and horses. It is beautiful. He has over 100 acres and his property is surrounded by water company land, so it is just forest. It is kind of what you would expect a New England farm to look like. A little pond, a bunch of green pastures surrounded by stone walls, rolling hills, and lots of beautiful trees. We walked around with Megan, who was more interested in the grass and her socks than anything else. We could see Long Island (New York) from the top of a hill. We saw a bunch of wild turkeys and four white-tailed deer as well. As we enjoyed the view, Megan lost her sock. We had wandered quite a bit, and finding her sock was a long shot. So, we just looked a little on our way back and found it. She was pretty happy.

Finally!

After several days of trying to get a picture of her doing this, I finally did. I am not sure what she thinks she can accomplish by doing this, but it is so cute. She can't sustain the pose for too long, which is one of the reasons that it took me so long to get the picture. She is now the accomplished scooter. She can get pretty much anywhere she wants, it just might take her 20 minutes to do it. For example, I placed her on a blanket in the middle of the rug. About 10 minutes later she had worked herself over here, moving probably five feet in the process. You also get a chance to see her in her footie jammers. Russ gets so excited when he sees her in them. She is doing so well, and is such a joy!

Baby Megan gets up

This video is from Sept. 14. She has only gotten better. It's only a matter of time before she is crawling! We're not sure if we're more afraid or more excited about that. Rebecca, Happy Birthday! To mommy, too.

Bad Boys Bad Boys, What ya gonna do...

We went to a safety barbecue on Saturday where we got these things. It is a police badge and a fire helmet. It was so cute. So watch out Bad Boys, Megan's on the case.

Fun Stuff

Megan is growing up so fast. She can sit up (sort of) on her own, for relatively long periods of time. She can get her tummy off the floor with her hands and I really wouldn't be too surprised if she is crawling somewhat by 6 months. She also loves to balance on her tummy. The rooster toy in the picture is her current favorite. She will set and play with it for much long then her other toys. She really likes playing on her tummy now. After I feed her, down she goes. When she was first born, she merely tolerated it for a few seconds, maybe a minute and then complained. Loudly. But now, she loves it.
