Pictures and updates

It has been shameful how long its been since we updated. We have been doing a ton of things as well. But first, here are some cute pictures from home. Then be prepared for the rest of the posts, there are a ton of them!

Salem

We finished up with a trip to Salem. Most of the stuff there was reenactments, which we figured was too intense for the girls, but we still had fun.

Freedom Trail

A 2.5 mile stretch connecting 16 historical sites in Boston. We did it! It took us all day, but we made it.

Concord & Lexington & Waldon Pond

We started off our Boston trip with Concord and Lexington.

Waldon Pond

This is part of a 5 mile stretch of road that the British soldier marched on on the way back to Boston. The Americans hid in the trees and picked them off.
There wasn't much in Lexington. This is the battle monument.

The North Bridge. This is the place where Americans fired upon the British troops for the first time. You normally could walk across pass the statue over to the other side, but since we have had all of this rain, we couldn't.

Meg's favorite part of the trip. Throwing sticks in the flood water.

Back in Concord, at the battle road. That marker says 13.25 miles back to Boston.

Boston Temple

One of my life's goals is to visit every US Temple. Well, I can cross Boston off!

Butterfly Place & Yankee Candle

We went to the butterfly place again per Meg's request. It was worth it! We also stopped by the Yankee Candle Store which was down the road. It turned out pretty cool. It is a huge store. We had a lot of fun.

We got to dip our own candles in color at Yankee Candle. Meg made a cow wearing "blue cow jam jams" and Mel got a horse, it is by Meg's foot.
Meg wanted to pick up this frog.

They had a Christmas shop at Yankee Candle and in part of the store it would "snow' every four minutes.

Lamothe's Sugar House & Cabela's

We went up to see the Cabela's in Hartford and to see a real maple syrup plant.

Meg loved all the "daddy deers" we saw. She loves Bambi.

It takes 40 gallons of maple sap to make one gallon of maple syrup. This place also had maple sugar coated peanuts that were simply amazing.
